Geotrashing (2014)

a geocaching-recycling game

In Sweden it is not allowed to sell second hand electronics because of an insurance issue. Additionally, the perception of e-waste is compared to other second hand object cold and less human. Thus, working electronics are being wasted every day in large numbers. What if all of these could get the chance of a second life?

The game Geotrashing is a mobile game for recycling e-waste which is inspired by Geocaching game. It is about passing on working electronics along with their history. Additionally, the game supports interactions between givers and takers through writing stories. Aim of the game is to increase the awareness of the increasing amount of e-waste in a fund and compelling way.

This work demonstrates my experience in screen-based
interaction design, of which I can benefit when
developing screen-based prototypes. When designing for migrant youth, screen-based solutions might be the most
accessible design solution.
